Blue Origin accused
Katy Perry has come under scrutiny after taking an 11-minute spaceflight with Blue Origin on April 14, accompanied by Gayle King, Amanda Nguyen, Kerianne Flynn, Aisha Bowe, and Jeff Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sánchez. During the brief mission, the crew experienced four minutes of weightlessness. Perry marked the occasion by holding a daisy in honor of her daughter and unveiling her upcoming tour setlist with a plastic butterfly, also singing What a Wonderful World. Upon returning to Earth, she emphasized that the experience was about celebrating the world and empowering future generations of women.
Despite the excitement, conspiracy theorists online have accused Blue Origin of staging the flight, calling footage of Perry floating in space “fake.” Some critics questioned the lack of seatbelts and the authenticity of the weightlessness, comparing it to other alleged space hoaxes. However, others defended the science behind the experience, explaining that the crew’s floating was due to freefall conditions, similar to those in zero-gravity training planes. While some remain skeptical, many accepted the flight as a suborbital journey that still allows for moments of apparent weightlessness.
