Chumlee from Pawn
Austin Lee Russell, better known as Chumlee from the reality show Pawn Stars, is expected to accept a plea agreement that would keep him out of jail. The deal comes after a March raid on his Las Vegas home escalated into criminal charges.
Court documents show Russell will plead guilty to one count of attempted possession of a controlled substance. In return, he must forfeit the drugs and firearms seized during the search, serve three years of probation, and participate in mandatory counseling or treatment programs.
The arrangement is structured to resolve the case without prison time. During the March 9 raid, police discovered 12 firearms, a gallon-sized bag of marijuana, a small amount of methamphetamine, and prescription medications such as Xanax.
Authorities had initially searched Russell’s home under a warrant connected to a sexual assault investigation. However, no charges were ever filed in relation to that allegation, and the focus of the case shifted entirely to drugs and weapons.
Under the deal, a felony weapons charge could be conditionally dismissed if Russell complies with probation and avoids new offenses. If successful, by 2019 he would face only a misdemeanor conviction.
If he fails to meet the conditions, however, Russell could face between two and five years in state prison on the weapons charge.
A court hearing is scheduled for June 1 in Clark County District Court, where Russell is expected to formally enter his plea and begin the terms of the agreement once approved by a judge.
