Conspiracy theorists think ‘giveaway’ detail just proved Melania Trump isn’t actually Melania Trump

Conspiracy theorists have revived one of their favourite claims: that First Lady Melania Trump is sometimes replaced by a lookalike. The theory resurfaced after President Donald Trump, 79, and Melania, 55, returned to Washington, D.C., following their Thanksgiving trip to Florida.

For those unfamiliar with it, the theory suggests that Trump occasionally sends out a Melania body double during public appearances. Each time the couple is seen together, some online users dissect their behaviour and appearance searching for “proof.”

Despite zero evidence and Trump previously calling the rumour “fake news,” believers often point to accessories, facial differences, or changed gestures as supposed signs of a stand-in.

Their latest return to the White House sparked the rumor again. Footage showed Trump exiting Marine One first, followed by Melania. The pair held hands and walked toward the White House as photographers snapped pictures.

This time, attention wasn’t on their interactions but on Melania’s outfit—specifically, her oversized sunglasses. She wore a dark green trench coat, brown heeled boots, and large shades despite it being nighttime.

Social media users instantly questioned why she would wear sunglasses in the dark. Some insisted it must be a body double hiding behind them, while others claimed her facial features and movements seemed different.

Of course, Melania is known for wearing sunglasses frequently, even at night or indoors, especially with bright camera flashes. Similar “fake Melania” accusations have circulated during other late-night arrivals and past events.
