David Beckham forced to undergo surgery after ‘years of pain’ as wife Victoria reacts

Sir David Beckham is recovering in hospital after undergoing surgery to fix a wrist injury he originally suffered in 2003 during a friendly match between England and South Africa.

The 50-year-old fell on his right wrist following a challenge from Thabang Molefe. Though he tried to continue playing with his wrist bandaged, he was substituted early in the second half.

Back then, doctors diagnosed a fractured scaphoid bone in his wrist. A screw was inserted to aid the healing process, and Beckham resumed his career despite ongoing discomfort.

Recently, Beckham began experiencing severe pain that became “unbearable.” A scan revealed that the screw, which was supposed to dissolve, had instead become lodged in his forearm.

According to a source quoted by The Sun, Beckham had endured years of pain without realizing the screw was the cause. Once it was discovered, he was scheduled for surgery.

Victoria Beckham supported her husband throughout, posting photos from the hospital, including one of David in a gown and another of a bracelet with the message “Get well soon.”

In a past interview, Beckham acknowledged the toll his football career took on his body. While he once suffered from ankle, knee, and achilles issues, his current problems stem from his back and hip due to general wear and tear.
