Dolly Parton Cancels Shows Due To ‘Serious Health Issue’

Dolly Parton has postponed her six-night Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum, originally set for December, moving the concerts to September 2026. The shows would have marked her first extended run in the city since the early 1990s. In announcing the delay, she described the pause as a “100,000-mile checkup” and stressed that she has no plans to retire.

Parton did not specify the medical procedures involved but said they will prevent the rehearsal and production schedule she requires. She emphasized she can continue working on recordings and other projects from Nashville during her recovery.

The change comes during a year of personal and professional milestones. In March, her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, died at 82. Even so, Parton has remained active, releasing collaborations, preparing the family project Smoky Mountain DNA, and maintaining her philanthropic work and Dollywood operations.

The Las Vegas residency is now set to align with other 2026 projects, including Hello, I’m Dolly, a Broadway musical based on her life. While she did not directly mention the show in her announcement, the timing keeps her calendar clustered with high-profile commitments.

Parton explained that the delay ensures fans get the production she envisions. Reports described the show as spanning seven decades of music with a hit-heavy set list, underscoring the scale of the residency.

Although only six concerts are affected, the postponement stands out given the rarity of her large-scale performances. Ticket holders will be redirected to the rescheduled dates.

Parton closed her message by thanking fans, saying she wants to be “at my best” when she returns. The delay, she said, reflects prudence, not retreat: procedures first, preparation next, and a long-awaited return to Las Vegas in 2026.
