Dolly Parton’s Sister Asks Fans For Prayers Amid Singer’s Health Battle

Dolly Parton’s sister, Freida Parton, has asked fans to pray for the 79-year-old singer as she faces ongoing health issues. Concern grew after Dolly postponed her six-night Las Vegas residency, originally set for December 2025, citing the need for medical procedures and recovery time.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Freida said she had been “up all night praying” for her sister and urged “prayer warriors” worldwide to join her. Her message quickly spread online, prompting speculation about Dolly’s condition.

Freida later clarified that she didn’t mean to alarm anyone, explaining Dolly was just “a little under the weather” and that her message came from faith and sisterly concern rather than new medical problems.

Dolly’s own statement described the postponement as a “100,000-mile check-up,” emphasizing that she isn’t retiring but simply slowing down to ensure she can perform at her best when the show debuts in September 2026.

Her recent health challenges include a kidney stone and infection that caused her to miss a Dollywood event in September. Despite setbacks, Dolly continues working and will receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in November, addressing the ceremony remotely from Nashville.

The year has been emotionally heavy for Parton, following the death of her husband, Carl Dean, in March. Through faith, family, and music, she has continued to balance grief with her professional commitments.

Both sisters’ words highlight the Parton family’s deep faith and Dolly’s resolve. She plans to rest, recover, and return to the stage—reassuring fans that this is a pause, not a farewell.
