President Donald Trump has expressed his desire for Elon Musk to continue leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) for as long as possible. Trump praised Musk’s performance, stating, “Number one: I like him. Number two: He’s doing a great job. Number three: He is a patriot.” However,  reports suggest that Musk’s tenure is nearing its end, with Trump acknowledging that Musk will eventually return to his business ventures.

Musk’s role as a special government employee limits his service to 130 days, a period set to conclude around the end of May 2025. Despite this,  Musk has been influential in the administration’s cost-cutting initiatives, including the implementation of significant tariffs aimed at reducing the trade deficit and revitalizing American manufacturing. These measures have faced both support and criticism, reflecting the complex impact of Musk’s contributions to the administration’s agenda.
