Donald Trump breaks silence on Elon Musk’s White House
Elon Musk has resigned from his position as co-lead of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a role he was appointed to by President Trump in January. Musk announced his departure on May 28, thanking Trump for the opportunity to reduce government spending. Despite previously dismissing rumors of stepping back from politics, Musk’s resignation followed his criticism of Trump for supporting a bill that would increase the deficit by \$3.8 trillion by 2034. He also hinted he would be reducing his political contributions in the future. These comments fueled speculation of a falling-out between Musk and Trump.
In response, Trump praised Musk in a statement on Truth Social, describing him as “terrific” and promising that Musk would continue to support the administration’s efforts. Trump even plans to hold a press conference with Musk in the Oval Office. Meanwhile, Musk shared posts from supporters downplaying the idea of a rift between him and the president. These posts emphasized that Musk’s term as a special government employee was limited to 130 days, which ended on May 30, countering claims that a feud led to his resignation.
