Donald Trump makes extreme announcement

In response to Ontario’s new electricity tariff, US leader Donald Trump has announced he will double his planned tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum. Last week, the Trump administration imposed a 25 percent tariff on goods from Canada, prompting Canada to retaliate with its own 25 percent tariffs on $155 billion worth of US goods. Outgoing Canadian PM Trudeau criticized Trump’s move, calling it “a very dumb thing to do.” Trump has now escalated the trade war by increasing tariffs on Canadian goods from 25 to 30 percent, citing the rise in electricity prices from Ontario as the reason.

New Canadian president Mark Carney described America as a country he “could no longer trust” amid the tariff tensions. In a bold speech, Carney accused Trump of “attacking Canadian families” and planning to “destroy the Canadian way of life.” He stated that the Canadian government would keep its tariffs until the US shows respect. Carney emphasized that Canada did not ask for this fight but is ready to defend itself. He has yet to respond to Trump’s latest tariff increase.
