Donald Trump says US has ‘capture

The capital was thrown into chaos before sunrise. Sirens wailed, explosions echoed through the streets, and the president was suddenly nowhere to be found.

Soon after, Donald Trump appeared on camera, praising what he called a “brilliant operation” and claiming that Nicolás Maduro and his wife had been captured.

As Trump celebrated a “major strike against Venezuela,” crediting Delta Force troops for the raid, Caracas was overwhelmed by fear, confusion, and disbelief.

Venezuela’s government condemned the action as a criminal act of foreign aggression. Officials accused the United States of attempting to seize the country’s oil and mineral resources and urged citizens to mobilize in defense of national sovereignty.

Residents reported explosions and low-flying aircraft across Caracas, Miranda, La Guaira, and Aragua. With little official information, people turned to social media and scanned the skies for clarity.

Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López promised an “unbreakable wall of resistance,” even as authorities acknowledged they were unsure of Maduro’s whereabouts.

Vice President Delcy Rodríguez demanded proof that the president and his wife were alive. Meanwhile, Colombian President Gustavo Petro warned of missiles over Caracas and called on the United Nations to intervene before the crisis destabilized the entire region.
