Elon Musk gives brutal response to Bono

Elon Musk has fired back at U2 frontman Bono after the singer called government spending cuts by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) “pure evil” during an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience. Bono claimed the DOGE cuts could cause over 300,000 deaths globally, citing a Boston University study, and criticized the firing of officials responsible for distributing aid. Musk, who recently ended his term as head of DOGE, responded harshly on his platform X, calling Bono a “liar” and an “idiot,” and denying that anyone had died due to the cuts.

Musk also referenced South Park, agreeing with its portrayal of Bono as “the biggest s*** in the world.” Despite his close ties to the Trump administration, Musk expressed disappointment over a new budget bill that increases military spending and cuts health and energy programs. He told CBS that the bill undermines DOGE’s work and criticized the rising deficit. In an interview with The Washington Post, Musk said DOGE is unfairly blamed for broader issues in the federal government and described efforts to fix inefficiencies in Washington as a tough, uphill battle.
