Elon Musk Has A Final Message For
Elon Musk announced he was stepping down from his role as Head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), expressing disappointment in the Trump administration’s massive spending bill. Musk’s unique role allowed him to work 130 days in the office, ending on May 28, though he decided to leave three days earlier after criticizing the “big, beautiful bill.” In a CBS interview aired on May 27, Musk said he believed the bill would increase the budget deficit and undermine DOGE’s mission to cut government waste, adding, “I don’t know if it could be both big and beautiful.”
Following his comments, the BBC reported that the White House was trying to remove Musk early. On social media, Musk thanked Trump for the opportunity to work on government efficiency, stating DOGE’s mission would strengthen over time. Trump, meanwhile, posted on Truth Social, saying Musk was on a “mission from God” and hinting that nothing could stop him. The controversial spending bill included Trump’s proposed “Golden Dome,” intended to protect the US from missile attacks.
