Elon Musk Says It’s Now Possible

Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX and CEO of Tesla, claims that rapid global travel may soon become a reality through SpaceX’s powerful Starship rocket. Although designed primarily for space missions, Starship could also enable ultra-fast trips on Earth, transporting up to 1,000 people between any two cities in under an hour. Most journeys are expected to take less than 30 minutes, thanks to the rocket’s maximum speed of 27,000 km/h—vastly outpacing commercial airplanes, which top out at around 1,000 km/h.

In a recent social media exchange on X (formerly Twitter), Musk responded to a user’s post featuring a video explaining Starship-based travel, confirming, “This is now possible.” The concept would involve passengers traveling by boat to an offshore launch platform where the rocket would take off. SpaceX has proposed routes like London to New York in 29 minutes or London to Hong Kong in 34 minutes. The idea could become feasible within a few years, potentially gaining traction under a future Trump administration, as suggested in the post.
