Elon Musk seemingly addresses current status

Elon Musk has clarified his role in the Trump administration after concerns grew over how he was dividing his time between his businesses and government work. Initially, Musk was leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to improve cost-saving measures. But Chief of Staff Susie Wiles recently confirmed that Musk has stepped back from direct involvement with the administration, explaining that while he’s still engaged in phone discussions, he is no longer physically present in the White House. Musk’s focus is now fully back on his companies, as he stated in a post on X: “Back to spending 24/7 at work and sleeping in conference/server/factory rooms. I must be super focused on X/AI and Tesla (plus Starship launch next week), as we have critical technologies rolling out.”

Although Musk is officially back to his businesses, his brief tenure in the White House left mixed impressions. Reports from The Atlantic, based on anonymous insiders, suggest that his aggressive work style—like demanding weekly progress reports—ruffled feathers. Some believe his Silicon Valley approach didn’t translate well to Washington, with Appian CEO Matt Calkins suggesting Musk’s “move fast and break things” mindset was poorly suited to government work.
