Everything we know about Rosie O’Donnell and Trump’s ongoing feud amid threat to revoke her citizenship
Rosie O’Donnell and Donald Trump have had a public feud spanning nearly two decades, and tensions recently escalated after Trump suggested revoking her citizenship. Their long-standing animosity reignited when Trump returned to the presidency in January.
O’Donnell, a comedian with strong Irish roots, moved to Ireland with her child following Trump’s reelection. Though she no longer lives in the U.S., she remains an American citizen and has continued to openly criticize Trump and his administration.
Their dispute began in 2006 when O’Donnell, co-hosting The View, criticized Trump for his personal life and called him morally hypocritical. Trump retaliated, calling her “a woman out of control,” especially after she addressed controversies around Miss USA winner Tara Conner.
Recently, Trump launched another attack on Truth Social, saying he was considering revoking O’Donnell’s citizenship because she’s “a threat to humanity” and urging her to remain in Ireland.
However, legal experts clarified that Trump cannot legally revoke a native-born citizen’s rights. Amanda Frost, a University of Virginia law professor, noted that the Supreme Court ruled in 1967 that the Fourteenth Amendment protects against such actions.
O’Donnell responded strongly on Instagram, posting a photo of Trump with Jeffrey Epstein and accusing him of representing what’s wrong with America. She asserted her right to speak out, saying Trump could never silence her.
Trump has denied any wrongdoing related to Epstein, maintaining he was not a supporter of the disgraced financier before his 2019 death.
