FBI ‘withheld information’ about Donald Trump’s assassination attempt – shocking details emerge
Some events remain etched in the public’s mind, especially those that shake the country. The 2024 attempted assassination of Donald Trump is one such moment, and new questions are emerging about how the FBI handled the investigation. Lawmakers now believe important facts may have been kept from them.
Rep. Pat Fallon, who chaired the congressional task force studying the attack, says his group was not given crucial information about the shooter, Thomas Crooks. While the FBI initially claimed Crooks had little background of concern, Fallon says recent disclosures contradict that narrative. He argues the task force was deliberately kept in the dark.
The controversy grew after it was revealed that Crooks had posted over 700 online comments, many filled with extreme views. Fallon says this material was never turned over to his team, prompting him to seek another hearing with former FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate.
The attack itself had devastating consequences. Firefighter Corey Comperatore was killed while shielding his family, and two more people were injured. Because Crooks’ motive still isn’t clear, public frustration has intensified, along with demands for openness.
Commentator Tucker Carlson questioned why Crooks’ online history was hidden for so long. The FBI, however, maintains it carried out a thorough investigation, analyzing huge amounts of digital data and documentation.
Former FBI agent Jody Weis argues that Crooks’ online activity should have triggered a stronger response much earlier. He believes a closer review could have allowed officials to intervene before tragedy struck.
The renewed examination underscores the need for honesty and full disclosure after such a traumatic national event.
