Former Fox News Anchor Accused of Fatally Stabbing Her 80-Year-Old Mother

A Wichita neighborhood was shaken on October 31, 2025, after police discovered 80-year-old Anita Avers fatally stabbed in her home on Crowley Street. Officers arrived just before 8 a.m. following reports of a “cutting” and found Avers unresponsive in bed. She was taken to a hospital but pronounced dead shortly after.

Outside the home, police detained Angelynn “Angie” Elizabeth Mock, 47, Avers’ daughter and a former Fox News morning anchor. Mock was arrested and charged with first-degree murder under Kansas law, with her bond set at $1 million.

Neighbor Alyssa Castro recalled a horrifying scene when a blood-covered woman approached her vehicle asking for help and to call 911. Dispatch audio from that morning includes a woman claiming she “stabbed her mother to save herself,” though police have not confirmed any self-defense claim.

Authorities have not disclosed details about the weapon, possible motives, or any history of domestic issues within the family. The investigation remains ongoing.

Mock previously worked as a TV anchor in Oklahoma City and St. Louis before transitioning into corporate communications and software consulting. She was also known for her volunteer work in heart-health and Alzheimer’s awareness.
