Gabby Petito’s mum
Gabby Petito’s mother, Nichole Schmidt, has shared troubling new revelations about her daughter’s 2021 murder during an appearance on The Squeeze podcast. Schmidt said she recently learned that Brian Laundrie’s bedroom had been emptied and renovated while he was allegedly “missing”—though he was already deceased at the time. She was shocked to discover that all of Laundrie’s belongings had been removed just as police were trying to use his scent to locate him. Schmidt also criticized the behavior of Laundrie’s family, saying Gabby’s possessions were stored away and the van was cleaned, including the missing mattress.
Brian Laundrie’s parents, Christopher and Roberta, also spoke out following public outrage over a new Netflix documentary. They recalled their son frantically telling them Gabby was “gone” during a phone call on August 29, 2021—just one day after her murder. Though his suicide note later claimed it was a mercy killing, Petito’s autopsy found she died from blunt force trauma and strangulation. The Laundries admitted to hiring a lawyer after his return home but claimed their attorney advised silence. Gabby’s parents are now suing the Laundries, alleging they knew about the murder and failed to help.
