I Had No Doubt My Son Brought

I planned a family vacation hoping it would help us reconnect, but instead, it turned into a nightmare. My husband, Mark, had been struggling to find a job, and as the primary breadwinner, I thought a getaway would lift his spirits. Our 20-year-old son, Eric, was also excited about the trip, and when he asked to bring his girlfriend, Jessica, I agreed, despite never having met her. However, things started to feel off. Jessica seemed uninterested in Eric’s life, failing to know basic details like his passion for basketball or his college major. She also acted distant and uninterested in bonding with the family.

As the trip progressed, I discovered a shocking betrayal. I found a diamond necklace in Eric’s suitcase, which seemed too expensive for him to afford. When I confronted Eric, he claimed he’d been saving for it, but something didn’t add up. Later, I discovered text messages between Mark and Eric revealing that Jessica wasn’t really Eric’s girlfriend—she was Mark’s mistress. Eric had been covering for his dad in exchange for money. Furious, I confronted them all at dinner, revealing that Mark had used my money for the necklace and bribed Eric to keep the secret. I returned home alone, filed for divorce, and began rebuilding my relationship with Eric.
