JD Vance makes serious blunder during speech as he seemingly blames own administration for Charlie Kirk’s death

JD Vance appeared to make an awkward mistake while speaking to supporters at a Turning Point USA event, where he was addressing the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Kirk was fatally shot while speaking at a college event in Utah, an incident that sparked outrage among his supporters and political allies across the US.

Known for his far-right views, Kirk had previously described the Civil Rights Act as a “mistake,” opposed abortion rights, rejected LGBTQ+ protections, and argued that some gun deaths were acceptable to preserve Second Amendment freedoms.

A 22-year-old man, Tyler Robinson, has been arrested and charged in connection with the killing. Prosecutors have indicated they will seek the death penalty if he is found guilty.

During his speech, Vance told the audience: “If you miss Charlie Kirk, do you promise to fight what he died for?” The phrasing appeared to be a slip, as it sounded like he was urging people to oppose Kirk’s beliefs rather than support them.

The moment quickly spread on social media, where users mocked the apparent gaffe and questioned claims about “taking the country back,” noting that Kirk’s allies currently hold significant political power.

Criticism has also been directed at Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, who became CEO of Turning Point USA after his death. Some social media users accused her of using her husband’s legacy for publicity and profit, particularly after she shared a Christmas message promoting reflection and faith.
