JD Vance Speaks Out After Windows Are Smashed at His Home
JD Vance has spoken publicly after an incident at his Ohio home, where a man was arrested early Monday morning, January 5, for causing damage to the property. Authorities reported that windows were smashed during the incident.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that Vance and his family were not present at the residence when the damage occurred. They were reportedly out of state at the time.
According to police, U.S. Secret Service agents detained a man outside the home shortly after midnight. The suspect was later taken into custody by the Cincinnati Police Department.
The individual was identified as 26-year-old William DeFoore. Prosecutors charged him with several offenses, including vandalism, criminal trespass, obstructing official business, and criminal damaging or endangering.
Investigators believe the suspect caused exterior damage but did not manage to enter the home. Authorities are still determining whether the property was specifically targeted because it belongs to Vance and his family.
Vance addressed the situation on social media, thanking law enforcement for their quick response. He described the suspect as a disturbed individual who attempted to break in by smashing windows and confirmed his family had returned safely to Washington, D.C.
He also asked media outlets to limit coverage showing damage to the home, citing concerns for his children’s privacy. The investigation remains ongoing as federal and local agencies continue reviewing the case.
