King Charles Wishes To Be ‘Present’ In Archie & Lilibet’s Lives As He’ll ‘Never Be Content’ Seeing Them Online Only, Insider Reports

On January 8, 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they would step back from senior royal duties, a decision widely called “Megxit.” By spring, their transition away from the British royal family was complete.

Since then, the couple has settled in the United States with Meghan’s mother and their children, Archie and Lilibet. While no longer working royals, they remain active through charity appearances and projects connected to the Archewell Foundation.

Relations between the Sussexes and the royal household have grown strained, drawing intense public scrutiny. Commentary has often focused not only on the couple’s decisions but also on the lives of their young children.

After King Charles III received a cancer diagnosis announced by Buckingham Palace, reports suggested he hoped to reconcile with Harry. A meeting during Harry’s U.K. trip for the Invictus Games anniversary was expected but ultimately prevented by scheduling conflicts.

Sources also claimed the king wishes to play a larger role in the lives of his California-based grandchildren and hopes for more than virtual contact, with Balmoral Castle mentioned as a possible reunion setting.

According to Page Six, insiders said Charles might extend an olive branch, though Harry’s spokesperson later confirmed a meeting would not occur during that visit.

Royal commentator Tom Quinn told The Mirror that Charles still acknowledged Lilibet’s third birthday with a gift and message, and may someday present her with a handcrafted swing similar to the one given to Prince George once family tensions ease.
