UPDATE (19/07/2025 – 8:26PM): Andy Byron has officially stepped down as CEO of Astronomer following a recent controversy.

In a LinkedIn statement, the company emphasized its long-standing commitment to integrity and accountability. Astronomer stated that leadership is expected to uphold high standards, which were not maintained in this case.

Byron submitted his resignation, which the company’s Board of Directors accepted. In the meantime, Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy will continue to serve as interim CEO.

The decision comes after Byron and HR head Kristin Cabot were seen embracing onstage during a Coldplay concert, a moment that quickly went viral.

The awkward and unexpected encounter led to a wave of online reactions and jokes—even Coldplay frontman Chris Martin joined in the commentary.

Following the public attention, Byron was placed on administrative leave, and Astronomer initiated an internal investigation into the matter.

The company has not disclosed the results of the inquiry, but with Byron’s departure, it signals a move to restore its professional image and workplace standards.
