Melania Trump can’t escape leaked audio despite jaw-dropping Christmas decorations

Melania Trump appears to be reshaping her image after previously sparking controversy for saying she didn’t care about Christmas in a leaked 2018 recording. This week, the 55-year-old First Lady unveiled an extravagant holiday display at the White House, inviting the press to view what many are calling her most impressive decoration effort yet.

This year’s theme, “Home Is Where the Heart Is,” inspired an enormous festive setup. Melania reportedly incorporated 75 wreaths, 51 Christmas trees, more than 213 meters of garland, over 2,000 strands of lights, 7,620 meters of ribbon, thousands of gold stars and butterflies, and over 50 kilos of gingerbread.

The elaborate décor has earned widespread praise online, with many users admiring her dedication and calling the display a full-scale Christmas spectacle rather than simple seasonal decorating.

However, the renewed attention has also revived memories of her leaked audio from 2018, recorded during Donald Trump’s first term. In the tapes, Melania vented her frustration about criticism she faced over the administration’s family separation policy at the southern border.

In the recording, she expressed irritation about being judged and dismissed the importance of holiday tasks, famously questioning “who gives a f**k about Christmas” while explaining she was working hard on decorations despite the backlash.

Her former friend Stephanie Winston Wolkoff later released a book about her time with Melania, prompting the First Lady’s team to condemn the secret recordings and accuse Wolkoff of seeking relevance.

Even so, many people still joke about Melania’s past comments, with social media users recalling her viral remark and questioning whether her new display signals a change of heart.
