Melania Trump’s ‘subtle gesture’ to Saudi Arabia’s prince during state dinner revealed
Melania Trump is receiving praise online for a subtle nod she made to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his visit to Washington D.C. on Tuesday (18 November).
The First Lady, 55, joined President Donald Trump in welcoming the Crown Prince for discussions aimed at strengthening U.S.–Saudi relations. After their meeting, Trump described Saudi Arabia as a “major non-NATO ally” and highlighted plans for expanded defense cooperation.
During an Oval Office appearance with the prince, Trump went as far as commending Saudi Arabia for what he said were significant improvements in human rights, calling the Crown Prince’s efforts “incredible.”
The president also confirmed intentions to sell advanced F-35 jets to the kingdom following its promises of major investments in American technology, nuclear energy, and AI sectors. A black-tie state dinner later that evening included high-profile guests such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Elon Musk, and Tim Cook.
While the political discussions drew attention, Melania’s fashion choice also made headlines. Known for bold style statements, she wore a striking emerald-green evening gown by Elie Saab, reportedly priced at $3,350.
The strapless dress featured a fitted waist and front slit, but it was the color that caught the public’s eye. Social media users quickly noted that the gown closely matched the green of the Saudi flag and resembled elements of the nation’s emblem.
Online commenters praised the outfit as a respectful gesture toward Saudi Arabia, with many also complimenting Melania simply for looking elegant and radiant in the jewel-toned gown.
