I (29F) have been with my fiancé, Mark (34M), for two years and was excited for our first Christmas together. However, a week before, he revealed he’d spend it with his daughter, Ella (6F), and his ex-wife, Jen, as they’ve done since their divorce. This caught me off guard since he hadn’t mentioned it earlier.
On Christmas Eve, I overheard Mark telling Jen, “She won’t know until it’s too late,” and discovered he planned to stay at her house overnight to celebrate as a “complete family” without including me. When confronted, he admitted they kept it a secret because Jen felt uncomfortable with my presence.
Feeling hurt and excluded, I left and spent Christmas with my sister. Mark later accused me of ruining Christmas for Ella and said I overreacted. Was it wrong for me to walk away after being lied to and left out?
