Newt Gingrich Warns of ‘Very Dangerous’ Rhetoric as Political Tensions Escalate

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has voiced alarm over what he called increasingly “dangerous” rhetoric from Democratic leaders, warning that hostility toward President Donald Trump could destabilize the nation. In a Fox News interview, Gingrich criticized House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries for claiming Republicans were “on the run,” accusing Democrats of turning to “extreme tactics” instead of offering real solutions.

He argued that some on the left believe they have the right to use violence or ignore the law, stressing that “the answer to all of that is enforcing the law — period.” Comparing today’s political divisions to the Civil War era, Gingrich suggested that America is again being tested on whether “a nation conceived in liberty” can survive such internal conflict.

Gingrich defended Elon Musk’s role as an adviser to the Trump administration, calling the criticism of him “unacceptable.” He argued that Musk and others are being unfairly targeted for helping reform the federal government.

Describing Democrats’ behavior during a recent joint session of Congress, Gingrich said they appeared like “zombie Democrats” who refused to applaud even the most unifying moments. He claimed Jeffries was forced to support a divisive tone despite lacking real policy answers.

Citing new polling, Gingrich said 82% of Americans view the political system as corrupt — a sentiment he believes will shape the 2026 elections.

He warned that escalating partisanship and failure to enforce the law could lead to political chaos and violence.

Gingrich concluded by urging unity, saying Americans must disagree peacefully: “We’re one country — we can’t destroy each other over politics.”
