Police Confirm Blood Inside Hotel Room of Nick Reiner; Arrest Photos Released
Rob and Michele Reiner were discovered stabbed to death in their Los Angeles home, prompting a homicide investigation that led authorities to arrest their son, Nick Reiner, as the main suspect. New information has since surfaced about the events surrounding the killings and Nick’s background.
Investigators say Nick checked into a Santa Monica hotel around 4 a.m. on Sunday, December 13. Blood was later found inside the room, which he booked shortly after a heated argument with his father at a holiday party earlier that night.
Hotel staff later entered the room and found blood on the bed and in the shower, with a window covered by bedsheets. Detectives from the LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division arrived two days later to collect evidence and interview witnesses.
Nick was eventually located near Exposition Park, roughly 20 miles from his parents’ home, and taken into custody. Police images of the tense arrest briefly circulated online before being removed. Authorities confirmed federal marshals assisted in the arrest.
Prosecutors charged Nick with two counts of first-degree murder, citing a special circumstance for multiple victims. He also faces an allegation of using a knife, with potential penalties including life in prison without parole or the death penalty.
Nick has a long history of addiction and instability, which inspired the 2015 film Being Charlie, co-written by Nick and directed by Rob. The film mirrored Nick’s struggles with substance abuse and homelessness.
Although Nick later achieved sobriety and rebuilt his relationship with his parents, he now faces accusations tied to a devastating family tragedy. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence.
