Prince William’s drastic plans for ‘major U-turn’
Royal expert Richard Eden suggests that Prince William will likely move away from King Charles III’s “streamlined monarchy” approach when he becomes king. Charles, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, significantly reduced the number of working royals to cut costs and adapt to the realities of their health battles. Initially, many thought William would continue this trend, focusing solely on his immediate family. However, with Prince Harry no longer taking on royal duties, this plan might not be feasible.
Eden believes Prince William now sees the importance of including his cousins—Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, and possibly Zara Tindall—more in the monarchy’s future. These cousins, who have already been active in charity work and events, may take on more official roles, requiring compensation for their contributions. Eden highlighted Princess Eugenie’s recent attendance at a garden party as an example of what could become the norm. Journalist Rebecca English also predicts Zara Tindall might be relied on to help bolster the royal family’s public presence in the future.
