Rosie O’Donnell speaks out after daughter gets prison time

Rosie O’Donnell has spoken out following her daughter Chelsea’s sentencing to state prison, sharing a deeply emotional message as the 28-year-old faces an uncertain future behind bars.

The 63-year-old former talk show host, known for her outspoken personality, took to Instagram to address the situation, expressing heartbreak over Chelsea’s legal troubles and asking for support and prayers from her followers.

Chelsea is one of five children Rosie shares with her former partners, including sons Parker and Blake, and daughters Vivienne and Clay. Chelsea, now 28, is also a mother to four young children: Skylar, Riley, Avery, and Atlas.

Chelsea’s legal issues began in Wisconsin in 2024, with three arrests between September and November for felonies including child neglect, methamphetamine possession, bail jumping, and resisting arrest. In March 2025, she pled guilty to three charges and was sentenced to six years of probation under strict conditions, including sobriety, no firearms, and no contact with known drug users.

By October 2025, Chelsea had violated her probation, reportedly related to sexual assault allegations, leading to her probation being revoked and a state prison sentence. She is currently housed in Marinette County Jail awaiting transfer, where she has access to a dayroom, television, games, and video communication with loved ones.

Breaking her silence, O’Donnell shared a childhood photo of Chelsea on Instagram, writing, “I loved her then, I love her now as she faces a scary future – prayers welcomed,” highlighting her ongoing support despite the challenges.

In a statement to People, Rosie added that she has compassion for those struggling with addiction, noting Chelsea was born into it, and reaffirmed that the family continues to support her during this difficult period.
