Seth Rogen’s bold

At the 2025 Breakthrough Prize Ceremony, co-host Seth Rogen made an unscripted joke criticizing President Donald Trump and tech figures like Elon Musk, questioning why some in the tech world supported Trump despite his administration’s harmful impact on science. Rogen specifically referenced the destruction of scientific progress, citing $320 million in influence and RFK Jr., while pointing out recent funding cuts affecting agencies like NASA, NOAA, and the Department of Health and Human Services. His remarks reportedly made co-host Edward Norton visibly uncomfortable, and the jokes were ultimately removed from the official YouTube broadcast.

In addition to his Trump and Musk comments, Rogen made a joke about physics prize winner Gerardus ’t Hooft, which was also cut. The Hollywood Reporter suggested the controversial nature of the comments, especially in a room filled with high-profile tech figures like Mark Zuckerberg and Sergey Brin, may have contributed to the edits. However, the Breakthrough Prize Foundation claimed the removals were due to time constraints, stating that the ceremony ran longer than in previous years. UNILAD has reached out to Seth Rogen’s representatives for comment.
