My mother-in-law is a demanding woman who lives in a spacious four-bedroom apartment but constantly complains about being exhausted from cleaning. Whenever we suggest she downsize to a smaller place, she becomes hysterical. Hiring a cleaner is also out of the question because, as she puts it, “I don’t know this person!”
Instead, she expects me to clean her apartment, claiming I’m not a stranger. My husband started pressuring me too, arguing that since I work remotely and have free time, I should help his mom. When I suggested he take on the cleaning himself, he got offended, and my mother-in-law erupted, yelling, “How dare you suggest this to my son!”
She managed fine before with the help of a robot vacuum, but now she’s decided she needs a servant—me.
