The Message on My

I had planned a romantic evening to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, but things unraveled quickly. My husband, Thomas, called to say he had to leave for a sudden business trip, leaving me heartbroken. Soon after, a delivery arrived—a cake with the shocking message, “It’s time to get divorced!” and a card that read, “Hope you take this as well as he did. XOXO.” Confused and devastated, I got another unexpected call from my mother-in-law, Gloria, who oddly encouraged me to visit Thomas at his hotel, claiming there was a surprise waiting.

At the hotel, a woman named Alicia answered the door, saying Thomas was in the shower, but none of his belongings were in the room. Moments later, Gloria walked in, calm and smug, revealing she sent the cake and had orchestrated the entire scenario. She claimed Alicia was a better match for Thomas and that I was never right for him. What she didn’t realize was that I had called Thomas before entering the room and left the call on. He heard everything his mother said—every manipulative detail—exposing her scheme in real time.
