There’s been a major update

Donald Trump has now approved a bill requiring the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files, despite previously resisting the idea.

For months, the US president firmly opposed making the documents public and refused to authorize their release even as public pressure intensified.

In a surprising reversal, Trump announced on Truth Social last night that he has signed legislation compelling the Justice Department to disclose the files.

In his post, he claimed that Democrats were using the Epstein issue—one he argued implicated them more than Republicans—to distract from what he called his administration’s “AMAZING Victories.”

The question of whether to release the documents has been widely debated among lawmakers and the general public, with many demanding transparency.

A vote held yesterday showed overwhelming support for releasing the files, passing 427–1. The near-unanimous vote increased pressure on Trump to shift his stance.

Following the announcement, Trump’s attorney general, Pam Bondi, stated that the Department of Justice would “continue to follow the law” when asked about the timeline for making the documents public.
