Trump gives brutal three-word response
US President Donald Trump has once again raised the idea of making Canada the 51st state during a meeting with newly appointed Prime Minister Mark Carney at the White House. Despite Trump’s previous suggestion to avoid tariffs by joining the US, Canada has remained firm in rejecting the notion, with both former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Carney affirming that Canada is “not for sale.” Carney compared Canada to iconic locations like Buckingham Palace, emphasizing that some places are simply never for sale. However, Trump responded by quoting Justin Bieber, saying, “Never say never,” and noted that many seemingly impossible things have become possible.
During the meeting on May 6, Trump praised Carney as a “very talented person,” while Carney called Trump a “transformational president,” despite ongoing tensions related to tariffs. A body language expert observed that Carney appeared both assertive and slightly intimidated, especially when Trump attempted to establish rapport with an elbow touch. While Trump remains optimistic about the idea, Carney firmly reiterated that Canadians are “masters in our own home” and would not trade their sovereignty for any foreign influence.
