Trump Releases Footage US Attack On ‘Drug-Carrying Submarine’
President Donald Trump announced Saturday that a U.S. military operation in the Caribbean destroyed a large drug-carrying submarine, killing two suspected traffickers and capturing two others. The vessel reportedly carried mostly fentanyl and other narcotics along a known smuggling route.
Trump shared video of the strike on Truth Social and claimed the interdiction may have prevented up to 25,000 American overdose deaths. He emphasized that no U.S. forces were harmed and vowed that the U.S. would not tolerate drug trafficking by land or sea.
Fox News reported that the two survivors were rescued by the U.S. Navy and are being held aboard an American warship. This strike marks the sixth U.S. interdiction of suspected drug-smuggling vessels since operations began in the Caribbean last month.
Trump first mentioned the operation during a meeting with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, describing the submarine as built specifically to transport massive amounts of drugs. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed the existence of survivors but said further details would be released later.
Earlier this week, Trump authorized CIA operations in the region, while U.S. Air Force B-52s conducted a visible “show of force” near Venezuelan waters. The move comes amid growing concerns over fentanyl, much of which is manufactured in Mexico with Chinese-supplied ingredients.
Republican lawmakers, including Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar, have proposed tough penalties for fentanyl traffickers, ranging from life imprisonment to the death penalty, citing the drug as the leading killer of Americans aged 18–34.
Gosar criticized the Biden administration’s border policies, highlighting that over 1,000,000 pounds of illegal drugs, including 7,700 pounds of fentanyl, were seized since January 2021. He called for harsher consequences for those responsible for manufacturing or distributing fentanyl to combat the drug crisis.
