Trump warns of possible impeachment if Republicans lose the midterms

President Donald Trump cautioned House Republicans that losing control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections could expose him to renewed impeachment efforts by Democrats.

During remarks at a Republican retreat in Washington, Trump stressed that winning the midterms is critical. He warned that if Democrats regain the House, they would look for any justification to launch impeachment proceedings against him.

Trump also called on party members to remain unified and focused as they head into November’s elections, emphasizing discipline and message consistency.

Republicans currently hold only a narrow majority in the House of Representatives. Trump underscored that maintaining control is essential not only for advancing Republican policies but also for protecting his presidency.

Addressing lawmakers directly, Trump framed the elections as a matter of political survival. According to several accounts, he bluntly stated that a loss would almost certainly lead to impeachment efforts.

The warning comes against the backdrop of Trump’s past impeachments—one tied to Ukraine-related issues and another following the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack—both of which ended in Senate acquittals. Some Democrats have continued to discuss impeachment over newer controversies.

Beyond those concerns, Trump encouraged Republicans to campaign aggressively on issues such as gender policy, healthcare, and election integrity, expressing confidence that victory is possible despite polling challenges, internal party tensions, and voter unease over economic conditions.
