Usha Vance has honest
Usha Vance, wife of Vice President JD Vance and the first Indian American Second Lady, recently opened up about her experience in the political spotlight. When asked about fitting into the stereotype of right-wing women often portrayed in media—described in a controversial question as “blondes with Botox and nine-inch heels”—Usha responded with humor, saying it would be “really hard” for her to be blonde. She emphasized that her appearance has not affected her warm reception within the MAGA movement, noting that people seem to value authenticity over image.
Despite now identifying with conservative values, Usha previously voted for Democrats in 2014 and registered as an independent in 2017. Her political shift aligned with her husband’s entry into Republican politics in 2022. Formerly a trial lawyer, she gave up her legal career to support JD Vance and focus on raising their three children. Usha said she prioritizes being a grounded, “normal person” for her family, adding that her role is less about giving political advice and more about offering emotional support in what she describes as a sometimes “lonely” public life.
