White House ‘identifies’ alleged Epstein victim said to have spent “hours” with Trump
Epstein Emails Bring Trump Back Into Spotlight
The Jeffrey Epstein case has returned to public attention, with newly released emails mentioning President Donald Trump. The messages, part of Congressional documents, highlight Epstein referencing the president multiple times in communications with Ghislaine Maxwell.
Newly Released Emails
Democrats on the House Oversight Committee shared emails from Epstein, including a 2019 message to author Michael Wolff where Epstein wrote, “Of course he knew about the girls,” referring to Trump. These emails, spanning from 2011 to 2019, are part of ongoing investigations into Epstein and Maxwell.
2011 Exchange
In one 2011 email, Epstein wrote to Maxwell, “I want you to realize that that dog that hasn’t barked is Trump,” noting that an unnamed victim had spent hours at his house with Trump and he had “never once been mentioned.” Maxwell responded, “I have been thinking about that.”
Identifying the Victim
The “unnamed victim” is reportedly Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s prominent accusers who died by suicide earlier this year. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended Trump, saying Giuffre had repeatedly confirmed that Trump was not involved in any wrongdoing.
Trump’s Past Statements
Trump has long denied involvement with Epstein, asserting he cut ties decades ago. He has said Epstein “took people that work for me,” and he instructed him to stop. The new emails, however, show Epstein discussing Trump as potentially useful for public perception.
Political Reactions
The revelations have reignited calls from Democrats for greater transparency. Rep. Robert Garcia emphasized the need to understand the full scope of Trump’s connection to Epstein. Meanwhile, House Speaker Mike Johnson plans a vote next week on releasing additional documents.
Maxwell’s Conviction
Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former partner, was convicted in 2021 of child sex trafficking and related crimes. She is currently serving a 20-year federal prison sentence, keeping scrutiny on Epstein’s network and its powerful connections.
