Why Trump supporters are losing their ‘trust’ in him over Epstein files amid missing footage and conspiracy theories

Support for Donald Trump is reportedly slipping, with some of his most devoted backers expressing disappointment after he defended Attorney General Pam Bondi’s handling of the Epstein case.

For years, rumors have circulated that Jeffrey Epstein kept a secret “client list” involving powerful figures linked to sex trafficking. However, Bondi and the Department of Justice recently denied such a list exists and refused to release any more related files.

Trump attempted to downplay the controversy on Truth Social, blaming figures from previous administrations and calling the attention to the files “publicity” driven by political enemies.

Despite Trump urging followers to move on, frustration was evident at the Student Action Summit, hosted by Turning Point USA, where the Epstein case was a major talking point among conservatives.

Podcaster Brandon Tatum voiced skepticism about the government’s honesty regarding Epstein, suggesting some high-profile individuals may be involved, including political allies, which complicates efforts to expose the full truth.

One attendee, 24-year-old Sharon Allen, said she felt Trump wasn’t living up to his promises of being different. She emphasized that he needed to take accountability and prove he’s willing to clean up corruption—even if that means firing Bondi.

A recent ActiVote poll shows Trump’s national approval rating has fallen to 45%, with 52% disapproving, resulting in a net approval of -7—the lowest of his second term. Still, this rating remains higher than some of his first-term numbers, which once dipped to 41%.
